The El Diamante Girls Water Polo team is currently overall 9-14 and in league, they are 1-4; the Lady Miners also recently defeated Mt. Whitney, 13-6. This past weekend they traveled to Santa Maria for a three-day tournament and they were happy with their performance.
Lauren Pelayo, senior caption, said, “The tournament was an amazing experience and definitely brought our team closer. We faced several obstacles this season and the Arroyo Grande tournament displayed how well-rounded our team is, and also how we all support one another. In my opinion, this is the best our team chemistry has ever been.”
On the first day of the tournament, they faced Paso Robles and lost 9-2. The second day they played against Willow Glen and lost 13-4. After that game, they came back stronger than ever and defeated Pioneer Valley with an amazing 18-3 win.
Getting this win gave them confidence and definitely showed the girls what they could accomplish. This tournament was a great way for the girls to bond, as well as work with each other.
The last day was definitely their best day. They finished the tournament by defeating Cabrillo 15-4, and Nipoma 9-6!
This Tournament was great for the team and it showed who they really are as a team.
