By: Beckham Ybarra

The new soccer season comes with much anticipation for the El Diamante Boys soccer program coming off a devastating loss in the Division 1 playoffs to Ridgeview last year. The tryouts have finished this year and the boys will begin the training for the season with the intentions to provide a great run in the playoffs and more. I was able to ask two of the boys what the goals for this season were and how the chemistry was was working for the team.

Senior Edward Perez states, “This season I have high expectations not only for myself but for the team. My goal is to surpass those expectations, I’m excited to see what this season has for us. I’m ready to make a name for myself and my school by going far this year.”

Another varsity player, David Medina says [he] “Is excited for the bus rides, leaving class early and building upon last year’s season where we were D1.”

With veteran coach Auggie Gonzalez leading the El Diamante boys soccer program with a hard-working season of hard competition sweat as the season goes along the guys are looking forward to a memorable season. Can the El Diamante Boys soccer program achieve the goal of a Valley Ring in the coming season? Let’s get it, Miners!
