El Diamante Boys Soccer has been extremely dominant in the playoffs so far knocking out three teams. So far the Miners have knocked out Kerman 4-2, Fresno High 2-2 in a penalty shoot out, and Lindsay 1-0. This is one of the best years the El Diamante Miners have had in a very long time. Boys soccer has yet to win a championship ring in the history of the school and now is time that they make history.
By the looks of it the boys are going into this game with great amount of confidence manifesting a win and a coveted Valley ring to put on their fingers. One of the team captains, Roberto Marquez, is going into the game with great leadership and perseverance, motivating himself and his team to get a win over Foothill High School.
Many of the upperclassmen in the past have dealt with playoff losses and they are using them as learning experiences to chase their dreams at getting their first division title for El Diamante.
Marquez stated, ”It feels great to be in the finals because it is what we have worked and trained for throughout our high school career.” Showing the dedication the team has illuminates their great chances going into the final title game.
The crucial game will take place at Foothill High School about one and a half hours away in Bakersfield. Although there is a far drive the school is hosting a bus for a cheap price of only five dollars for students and 10 dollars for staff who would like to cheer on our boys at this game. Foothill has won a total amount of two titles in their career of the school and the Miner Boys are hoping to break that streak and bring home their first title.
Marquez added,,” We all feel very confident, the team, the coaches, and myself because this is what we have all worked very hard for.”
As it is the first time the boys can win a title and bring a banner home to school make sure to hop on the bus or drive to the game to support the team to increase their chances of winning. Come out wearing Miner Green and in Miner Spirit showing Foothill what our school is about! Go Miners!
