Devin Ibarra Does It Again: Breaks School Records in Latest Track Meets

This past weekend El D’s favorite track star, Devin Ibarra, earns himself another school record in the books. On Friday Ibarra competed at the Gateway to Track and Field Invitational at Buchanan High School. in Fresno. He competed in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Ibarra broke his school record and earned a personal best.

Devin placed first in the 1600 with a winning time of 4:15.85, breaking his school record and earning a personal best. His 4:15.85 earned him a top 25 USA mark.

Ibarra describes the race as “a fun one”. He also stated, “it was a fast one, I enjoyed it a lot. I felt really good going into the last lap and I felt really strong so I went for it and put it all out there.”  Later that day he competed in the 3200 meter coming home with a win in a time of 9:28.09.

The next day Ibarra competed in the Rafer Johnson Invitational at Kingsburg High School. He competed in the 800 meter and 4×400. Coming off an amazing 1600m the day before he managed to break the school record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.45 and brought home the win. Ibarra said, “I was very happy with my performance in the 800. I knew I could throw down a fast time so I just put out everything and got the school record just came along with it”. 

The track team will compete in the Monarch Invitational this Friday in Exeter. Good luck Miners!
