Miner Community: El D Hosts Annual Back To School Club Rush

by Ayla Romero

With school in full swing, Back to School activities abound. El D continues to show their Miner pride by bringing to light the various clubs offered here on campus. This annual event allows clubs to advertise their club and recruit new members.

With the new year just starting, El Diamante wants students to be reminded that this is a school where everyone can find a common interest, especially through clubs. This year, the school hosted their annual Club Rush during lunch which offers students the opportunity to venture out into new groups and activities on campus.

El D always has a wide variety of clubs for students to join. Some of these clubs include: Key Club, CSF,  Book Club, Mock Trial, Women’s Empowerment, among many others. One of the best things about Club Rush is getting to see students’ enthusiasm toward joining new clubs.

President of the Women’s Empowerment Club, Jetsie Villegas, shared that her favorite part of Club Rush is, “Getting to see new faces and getting to see underclassmen get involved with their school.”

This year’s Club Rush was as per usual, another success. Tables were filled by students eager to sign up for clubs. It’s important that students have the chance to find a group on campus that makes them feel seen and welcome; it is part of the high school experience after all.

Senior, Leah Mejia, shared her thoughts on the significance of Club Rush saying, “It’s important because you get a chance to meet new people and do different activities on campus.”

On that note, Club Rush is a time of year where students can branch out into different communities on campus. Through Club Rush, El Diamante is able to keep the school spirit alive as teachers and officers welcome students into these new clubs with open arms.
